Hyundai gets to grips with car dismantling
Times have changed in the vehicle recycling industry, I recall visiting scrap yards with my father as a youngster and they were messy, smelly and somewhat dodgy looking establishments. These days things are completely different and a whole lot more mechanised.
Specially modified excavators are rapidly becoming the chosen tool in the car dismantling industry, we have seen a number of manufacturers roll out converted machines fitted with what can only be described as a giant pincer style hand that holds the car in place as the excavator sets about tearing the thing to pieces.
This video shows a Hyundai HX180L supplied by Cumbrian dealer Taylor and Braithwaite fitted with a Powerhand VRS attachment. You have to say, it looks like a lot of fun!
