In the Scandinavian Way

More and more contractors in the UK are adopting the Scandinavian inspired wheeled excavator and tipping trailer combination to improve their efficiency and flexibility on the job site, one of the latest being Dundee based Taylor Construction.

In the Scandinavian Way

Owner David Taylor purchased the 14-tonne class Hyundai HW140A from Scottish Hyundai dealer Agritrac and it was put straight to work on a housing development site in Dundee.

The machine was fitted with extra wide ‘Super Single’ floatation tyres which improves its overall stability and further enhances the machines performance in soft underfoot conditions, joystick steering has also been installed in this machine, another addition that is the preferred option in Scandinavian regions. The set-up is completed with a Bailey hydraulic tipping trailer.

David Taylor clearly recognises the importance of keeping his operators happy by taking onboard their feedback prior to purchasing the machine. The operator in question on this excavator is highly experienced employee Hamish Steel who is clearly impressed with the machine’s overall performance, comfort, the fuel economy of the ultra-low emissions Stage V engine and the safety features.

This combination is a fantastic solution for building sites, eliminating the need for an additional dumper, becoming totally self-sufficient, able to load and un-load its self and perform a wide range of tasks around the jobsite with additional attachments like pallet forks for instance. A TAB boom and a tiltrotator would round off this nice set-up.
