Is Hydrogen the Future … JCB Think So

British manufacturer JCB is always at the cutting edge of technology and innovation, and they are continuing to lead the way in the search for alternative power sources and most importantly environmentally friendly options.

JCB has invested heavily in research and development of hydrogen power for its larger equipment offerings, as they consider electric battery power, as seen on their smaller products, would not be practical for the larger heavy line machines such as excavators and backhoe loaders.

Hydrogen fuel cells have been tested but the cost of such things is considered to be rather prohibitive for the time being. This led to the manufacturer looking at the possibility of adapting their well proven diesel engines to run on hydrogen, with surprisingly good results.
