JAO Groundworks Launches You Tube Vlog

Only last year I had the pleasure of visiting Taunton, Somerset based JAO Groundworks Ltd, and we featured Managing Director Jake Oaten and his team in the January 2025 edition of Earthmovers Magazine.

JAO Groundworks Launches You Tube Vlog

It’s been something of a meteoric rise for JAO Groundworks Ltd in its first five years, and the company continues to forge good working relationships with their clients, providing a high-quality level of service which in turn leads to more repeat business. Last year the company was on track to hit a turnover of circa £9m.

The company is already offering full time employment to well over 50 employees and that total looks set to rise going forward. The company continue to invest in the latest hydraulic excavators from Develon and Takeuchi, who are their preferred brands.

As the business continues to expand in 2025, Jake has decided to engage more with social media to spread the word about the company and what they do.

While surfing the web just the other day, I was delighted to come across the first episode of what is set to become a series of high-quality vlogs produced by JAO called ‘Building a Groundworks Company’.

I think this is the first time that a UK based groundworks company has launched something like this, and I have to say, the behind the scenes, no holds barred footage, is a refreshing look at how a groundworks company is run, warts & all and the daily problems they face.

One has to say it has a touch of the Ashville’s about it, but on a level that we in the civil engineering and groundworks industry can understand and relate too. Jake appears to be a natural at the presenting, which can only be a good thing for the future.

At the time of writing ‘Episode One’ has already attracted over 13,300 views in only 4 days, which is good going, I think this definitely has legs, take a look at the video below to find out more!
