JC Balls Love Affair with JCB

When a plant hire company has the same initials as the most prolific British manufacturer of construction equipment, there was only ever going to be one machine of choice, JCB!

James Christopher Balls started his family-based plant hire business JC Balls & Son, way back in 1963, when he invested in a JCB 3 backhoe loader.

The company who are based in Ambergate, Derbyshire, have remained true to their roots ever since, and has subsequently owned almost every backhoe loader model since those early days.

The roll call of models they have purchased is impressive and includes the 3C MKII, 3C MKIII, 3CX, and most recently 3CX and 4CX models.

The venerable backhoe loader still remains a vital machine in the company’s portfolio of plant hire options to this day which is great to see.

Family member Tom Balls was one of a variety of selected operators who drove a backhoe loader in the 1 Millionth Backhoe Loader celebration parade, which featured no less than 16 iconic machines from the past to the present day at the factory earlier this year, with Tom having the honour of driving their own fully restored 3C.
