JCB Dancing Diggers 1975 Style #ThrowbackThursday

The JCB Dancing Diggers have been a phenomenon for almost as long as I can remember, the world-famous team have performed their iconic displays all across the country and indeed all around the world, flying the flag for the company and British manufacturing.

Naturally the team members continually change as the years go by and it would be interesting to see just how many individuals have held the prestigious role over the years, it must be a nice addition to anyone’s CV to have been a JCB Dancing Digger professional.

The fantastic classic video below from the JCB archives features the team performing a routine at the back of what is now the VIP Customer Centre at JCB’s World HQ in Rocester, Staffordshire, in 1975, at what was the 30th anniversary performance.

There are some all-time classic JCB machines featured in this footage, with the 3CII’s leading the way, along with 400-series wheeled loaders and I especially like the 110 tracked loading shovel playing matador to a mechanical bull, which is hilarious.

When you consider how many years ago this was and with none of the modern-day technology we have at our disposal these days, this must have taken many hours of training and learning the coordination for the routine, just amazing!
