JCB proves its worth on the pipeline

Operator Shannon Cannell was keen to see a few more of the photos I took during my site visit for Earthmovers Magazine, so in this Digger Man Blog post I will share a few that didn’t make it into the article.

This latest addition to the Mark Farwell Plant Hire fleet, the JS220LC, weighs in at 22,490kgs and is powered by JCB’s award winning EcoMAX T4i engine which meets Tier 4i/Stage IIIB emissions legislation and offers a power output rating of 129kw. This engine, which is said to provide a 10% fuel saving on previous models, requires no bulky DPF or SCR, which means no massive bonnet is required, ensuring that operators still get a pretty good view to the rear of the machine in a conventional manner without the need for additional camera’s. This machine however was fitted with the optional rear view camera for added safety. The machine has continued to be busy on the water pipeline job in Warminster where we first visited it and took these shots of Shannon stripping topsoil. Shannon and his 22 tonne mount are currently engaged in reinstatement works on what has been an excellent first hire for the machine. Apparently the machine has grown on Shannon, but I think it’s safe to say, nobody will ever take the Cat out of the man behind the controls in this instance.
