Komatsu’s PC220LCi-12 from an Australian Perspective

We are back ‘Down Under’ for todays blog post taking a look at Komatsu’s long-awaited Dash-12 hydraulic excavator.

Although somewhat overshadowed, quite literally at Bauma by the mighty PC7000E, the big news was the reveal of Komatsu’s first model of the Dash-12 range, the PC220LCi-12, which is the first full re-design of their 24-tonne class machine for over two decades.

Although we have not had an opportunity to get “hands on” with one in the UK yet, the new machine was a big attraction at the 'Komatsu Australia Boots on Media Day' event that took place at the Hunter Plant Operator Training School (HPOTS) in Cessnock, NSW, last month.

The machine also showcased Komatsu’s soon-to-be-launched Intelligent Machine Control 3.0 (iMC 3.0) technology. iMC 3.0 is said to offer significant enhancements to the semi-automation features that boost productivity and efficiency on site.

These machines are brimming with next-level automation: swing, track, dig, grade, even steer — all under intelligent control, plus 3D boundary awareness.
