Liebherr’s T 264’s Deliver for Thiess in the Pilbara
Deemed the smallest mining truck in the Liebherr Mining portfolio, the T 264 is a massively impressive dumptruck, and is proving to be so at one of Thiess’s operations in Western Australia.
During a number of visits to the Liebherr stand at Bauma in Munich over the years, we have had the opportunity to get up close and personal with these big trucks and they really are a sight to behold in the metal!
The T 264 has a payload of 240-tonnes, and has a gross vehicle weight of 416-tonnes (176.00 tonnes when empty). Two engine options are available to suit customer preference, the Cummins QSK 60 or the MTU 16V4000 both of which offer a power output rating of 2,013kW (2,700hp) that will propel the trucks to a top speed of 34 mph.

The truck’s unique combination of the powerful engine, an efficient Litronic Plus AC drive system and robust electric wheel motors allows for faster cycle times, making the T 264 exceptionally productive and cost efficient.

In the superb promotional video below, we discover how the Liebherr T 264’s are delivering dependable performance day in, day out, in the incredibly harsh conditions of the Pilbara for the Thiess mining team, one of the largest names in the mining industry in Australia.
