LiuGong Powering up with Electric Machines

As we reported earlier this year, LiuGong surprised many in the industry when they revealed their new electric machines at the BICES 2019 exhibition in China in September, but apparently this is just the start, with Conexpo in Las Vegas looming on the horizon we are expecting more exciting launches from this manufacturer.

LiuGong Powering up with Electric Machines

Battery powered electric construction equipment really is the “buzz” word at the moment (pun intended) and at BICES in China recently LiuGong presented 3 of what it described as battery electric vehicles (BEV’s), the 856H-EV wheeled loader and two hydraulic excavators, comprising of the 6-tonne class 906E-EV and perhaps the most radical model of all the 22-tonne class 922F-EV which features a design shape and styling the like of which has never been seen before.

LiuGong say that the machines batteries are equipped with fast charging technology and innovative energy-saving technologies, which only need one hour to charge the battery 80% to full and can maintain longer working hours. The customer simply plugs the machine into the charger and walks away to go do other work. When the machine is ready, they un-plug and go to work.

Without a doubt the new 922F-EV is the most striking machine of the 3 models and credit must go out to the design team who have quite literally “dared to be different” with this one. The machines large battery pack is centrally and to the rear of the machine forming a large percentage of the counterweight. While you cannot see directly out of the back window a rear-view camera provides the operator with all the view he could need, while to the operator’s right-hand side the visibility splay is unrivalled. It will be really interesting to get some stick time on one of these and that is something I am going to be working on to achieve.
