Lording it Up at Komatsu UK

Our old mate, straight talking social media content creator Kurt Mills, aka Lord Muck on You Tube, has been on his travels again up in the North East visiting those fine folk at Komatsu UK.

Lording it Up at Komatsu UK

A trip up to Komatsu UK facility is always a fantastic experience, and one I have been fortunate enough to undertake half a dozen times over the years I’ve been running the blog.

Based in the North East of England town of Birtley, Komatsu UK was officially opened in 1987 by HRH Prince of Wales who has more recently taken over the reins as our King following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II.

The factory had actually been in operation since 1985 and covers in excess of some 202,000 square metres of floor space. Kurt was given the full Komatsu experience, starting with a tour of the production facility, where he got to see numerous components being fabricated, right here in the UK by highly skilled British workers, including booms, counterweights, revolving upper frames and track undercarriage frames.

Out on the demonstration plot later, Kurt caught up with two other friends of the Digger Man Blog, long term Komatsu end user Shaun Gratton, who is working for Komatsu direct these days, and Intelligent Machine Control product specialist Rob Macintyre who was also on hand to demonstrate the technical side to these machines.

As we have come to expect, Kurt has produced a fabulous video from the visit for his hugely successful Lord Muck You Tube channel and you can watch that below, there is also even a chance to win a superb 1:50 scale die cast Komatsu PC210 model and win Lord Muck Top Dog stickers, Enjoy!
