Machine Serve Battles the Elements again at its Open Days Event

Devon Based plant and machinery dealer Machine Serve held another of its regular Open Days event last week and once again, despite horrendous weather, it was well attended by the local plant community.

West Country folk are a hardy bunch to say the least and they were not going to let biblical amounts of rain put them off attending the latest open days event held at the premises of dealers, Machine Serve in Winkleigh, Devon. Those who ventured out were treated to a look around and a test drive of the latest products from Yanmar, NC-Engineering and a whole raft of other products in the Machine Serve portfolio.

The former Hanix dealer has been offering Yanmar since parting company with the former manufacturer who kind of lost their way following a takeover by Chinese investors. There is no denying Yanmar is on a whole different level in terms of quality and refinement and it appears to have been a good move for Managing Director Phil Davey and his team.

There was good stock of various sized Yanmar machines assembled in the yard area for static viewing and for those brave enough to venture outside, on the demo plot there were a number of machines assembled for some invaluable “stick time”. On a wet and freezing cold Saturday morning the 2.5-tonne V26 conventional tail swing model and the 5.5-tonne Vio57 zero tail swing models were proving popular with the heaters on full bore!

Also on show was NC-Engineering’s latest Stage 5 Doosan powered site dumper the SW60 55, I’ll be taking a closer look at this machine in another blog post next week.

For “rubber duck” lovers the Yanmar B95W wheeled excavator fitted with TAB boom and an X12 Steelwrist tiltrotator was attracting attention, with many keen to try their hand at controlling a “tilty”.

All in all, despite the weather a great time was had by everyone who attended. We will be posting more videos from the event in due course on our various social media channels and on You Tube.
