Maxpo Moments (Part Two)

Continuing my look back at some of the highlights of the recent Maxpo Trade Fair in Finland.

Maxpo Moments (Part Two)

One of the first stands I head for usually is the Honka Trading OY stand, which is always situated just inside the fence at the main entrance, where it’s always a pleasure to catch up with Antti Forma. Honka Trading are the main dealers in Finland for Takeuchi and Hidromek construction machinery.

Main attraction on the stand was the new 7-tonne class TB370 wheeled excavator, which we first saw revealed during Intermat in France last year. This compact machine always appears to generate great interest from visitors to the shows, and one of the first examples to be sold in the UK has already gone out to work.

The ever-popular TB325R reduced radius tailswing machine was also included in a comprehensive line up of Takeuchi products on display. Whilst its bigger brother the TB335R was on the demo area for visitors to get a hands-on experience with.

I have had a long association with Lännen Tractors Oy over the years that I have been visiting Finland. However, this year was another prime example of how when key staff members leave a company, that relationship often goes with them.

I walked onto the stand, and didn’t recognise anyone and vice versa, they didn’t recognise me either, it’s a little bit sad when such changes happen, but that’s life I guess, nothing ever stays the same. However, it was still nice to see some fine examples from the product portfolio, like the 8800M multi-functional backhoe loader, that was sporting a striking red livery.

Making its debut at the show was the all-new Lundberg 6260 compact wheeled loader/tool carrier, these machines are very Nordic in design and designed with street cleaning and snow removal work in mind.

Konesilta are a long-established main Kubota dealer in Finland, but also deal in used equipment, and equipment modification work. There was plenty of Kubota machinery on show including the KX085-5 8.5-9 tonne class midi excavator which was fitted with an R3 Rototilt tiltrotator.

Most recently the company has taken on the dealership for Atlas excavators in Finland, and at Maxpo they presented the 185W Blue wheeled excavator, fitted with TAB boom and an Engcon tiltrotator.

Also presented on the stand were some what I can only describe as cheap and cheerful Chinese mini excavators, from JPC, which included this 1.8-tonne model the HT18. I found it rather amusing that the cab door in its retained open position, just sticks out the back and would be extremely vulnerable to damage from impact. I can only imagine it would be a good idea to keep the door well and truly shut at all times!
