MJL’s Volvo EC350EL gets the Leica Treatment

As previously reported my great friend and industry colleague Peter Haddock of Content with Media, was recently down on a whistle stop tour in the South West, and during his tour he popped in to see machines owned by one of my previous employers, Helston based MJL Group.

Peter was on site in Alphington near Exeter, to meet up with highly experienced MJL operator Neil Cloak, who had recently taken delivery of a brand-new Volvo EC350EL from dealer SMT GB, which had been retro fitted with a full Leica Geosystems 3D machine control system from local dealer One Point Survey.

Peter asked Neil, not only how he had been getting on with the new machine, but perhaps more importantly, how he was learning to use the new machine control technology on board.  Neil said, "When it came to learning machine control in my previous machine, I wasn't all that keen at first, and it took a bit getting used to, but I wouldn't be without it now”.

Neil continued “For me the good thing is that Rob from One Point Survey can dial into the machine at any time to help me if I need any support, which makes a big difference”.

Neil was quite clearly very impressed with the big new Volvo saying, "There is a lot of power in the machine, and I’m finding the new joysticks to be very responsive. There's also plenty of room in the cab and a comfortable seat. It's a great piece of kit that's even better with machine control."

Checkout Peter’s video below and find out more about Neil’s experience with it so far, and just how much he looks after the kit he’s in charge of!
