Model Cat dozer meets its real life counterpart at Finning’s

After devoting three years of his life to creating a one-sixth scale model of Caterpillar’s classic D9T Dozer, Brian Palliser, a retired carpenter from Herefordshire, left many Finning employees bamboozled when he brought the model to its Cannock based headquarters.

Since Mr Palliser first contacted Finning, the company has been heavily involved in helping him create the model. The official UK and Ireland Cat dealer supplied Brian with the certified machine paint colours and relevant information booklets detailing the specifications of the D9T. Whilst at Cannock, the 88 kilogram, electric motor powered remote controlled dozer was fully demonstrated to a host of onlookers. Many of the Finning workshop team made the most of the opportunity, quizzing Mr Palliser on how he constructed the model and videoing the remote controlled action on their mobile phones. Speaking about his decision to build the Cat D9T, Brian said: “Ever since I was a boy Caterpillar was the word I associated with diggers and dozers. They are fantastic machines, so making a remote controlled model to the exact specifications of the original Cat D9T was a project I really enjoyed. The help I received from Finning was instrumental to the success of the finished model.” “I was thrilled to be able to visit the Finning Cannock headquarters. It’s certainly nice to have your work recognised by people within the industry, especially after three years’ graft!” Check out this video which documents Brian's visit to Finning's HQ in Cannock.
