New Kit and New Challenges Down Under

Our great mate and Australian earthworks legend Gary Steen has been in touch to tell me about some exciting news at the company he works for.

New Kit and New Challenges Down Under

Gary tells us that times are really busy with the company right now, so much so that they are in the market for lots of new kit to supply onto the various projects coming down the pipeline.

The company is generally a big Cat user, but they are looking around at other brands and most interestingly they are going to have a demonstration of Komatsu’s PC210LCE electric excavator to evaluate them and discover more about working practices with the electric kit.

Also coming in on demo will be an example of Komatsu’s WA475-10 wheeled loader.

These demonstrations will follow hot on the heels of a large order of machines from Liebherr, which includes dozers, wheeled loaders and piling rigs including the first fully electric unit delivered into the Australian market. Also keeping in the electric theme, and flying the flag for GB manufacturing, they recently took delivery of the first JCB electric telehandler delivered Down Under!

Gary also spoke about a specialist windmill blade transport trailer that they had made, and supplied us with some spectacular drone shots of its epic delivery route.

The transport trailer was made to move the giant wind tower blades across some massive windfarm projects they are working on. The ADT at the front is a Cat 740 ‘ballasted’ up to assist in towing the block trucks with the challenging load!

Gary tells us they are about to start another mega windfarm job in Southern Queensland.

Thanks for sharing Gary, as ever, I really appreciate your contributions to the Digger Man Blog!
