New Yanmar Midi Excavators Look the Business

Japanese manufacturer Yanmar has introduced two new models in the 8 to 10 tonne class range designed to meet the needs of compact urban jobsites.

New Yanmar Midi Excavators Look the Business

The company, who lets be honest, like most Japanese machinery manufacturers, know a thing or two about mini excavators, says that the two models have been designed to combine compact dimensions with efficiency, increased performance, and offer operator-centric design enhancements.

Despite being in the larger weight class, the Yanmar SV86-7 (8,675 kg operating weight) and the SV100-7 (9,705 kg operating weight) maintain a compact footprint. Featuring a tight front swing radius (2,120 mm for the SV86-7 and 1,365 mm for the SV100-7).

The SV86-7 boasts lifting capacities of 1,290 kg (over the side) and 2,280 kg (front) and offers the highest lifting capacity in its class. Meanwhile, the SV100-7 brings lifting capabilities of 1,420 kg ( (over the side) and 2,390 kg (front) and both are powered by Yanmar’s Stage V emissions compliant 4TNV98Ct diesel engine.

Customer feedback has been instrumental in the design of these new machines, and features include larger glazed areas in the cabin for increased visibility, more space inside the cab including more foot space, and an all-new 7” full colour display monitor.

Increased engine power over previous models is expected and rear and off side view cameras will also be included as standard.

We don’t expect to see these Japanese designed and European built machines in the UK until later this year, but I will be in touch with my local dealer Machine Serve, who this year are celebrating a 20 years in business anniversary, for a potential test drive opportunity.

Talking of Machine Serve, the Devon based dealer is holding another series of its Open Days event to celebrate their 20th anniversary, on 7th, 8th and 9th March. There will be some amazing operator competitions, including the Yanmar 90 second skills challenge that was so popular during the last Bauma show, the Digga Halo Maze, and the Gyru-Star Ball Pit challenge, plus lots more, so plenty to see and do and food and refreshments too!

Unfortunately, I will be in Finland over that period, but if you are in the South West area, I strongly recommend a visit to the Machine Serve event, where there is always a warm welcome from Phil and his team.
