Not Just any Trailer, It’s an Ollie Kitchin Trailer!

Well known Scandinavian inspired wheeled excavator (rubber duck) owner/operator Ollie Kitchin has invested in a trailer upgrade which has been specially adapted to meet his requirements, the result is stunning.

Not Just any Trailer, It’s an Ollie Kitchin Trailer!
Ollie has been in touch with the Digger Man Blog to tell us about the work that’s been done on it and has kindly shared the following photos with us. Ollie said, “I decided to go for a single axle with flotation tyres, which are just short of 600mm wide, rather than a double-axle mainly down to the fact that it’s better rolling resistance and as the  majority of sites over in Sweden are rock with little chance of sinking, over here, the tyres and single axle will be better suited to site work. It is also on a sprung axle which will help with the ride of it when been pulled behind my Komatsu PW148 duck”. “I’ve had a place made at the front of the trailer to put the pipe cradle when not in use, and it has internal lashing point which will drop down into the body of the trailer, I personally prefer these as I feel your pulling more of the load down to the trailer, rather than against the sides of it”. “I’ve also had eight work lights put underneath that can be turned on independently to the road lights, and should hopefully come in handy for winter working, lighting up the ground underneath the trailer, a simple but very effective idea”. “I wanted to make use of the draw bar area, so I have had a vice fitted to it, I’ve have one on my bucket carrier, which has come in very handy not only for myself but for contractors too, so it felt like the right thing to add on to the trailer”. “The sign writing is something I’m really pleased with, Chris and Nicola from Visualize NE Ltd have done an exceptional job and I’m over the moon with it, there was a bit of back and forth with ideas and this was the outcome, you can see what it will look like at night”. “Having just come back from the MaskinExpo show in Stockholm, the response over there was extremely positive, from both dealers and drivers, so they have certainly done something right!” “Finally a massive thank you must also go out to Pete, Ryan and the team at DRT Trailers for the exceptional work they have done for me, nothing was too much of an issue and they work to the highest standards with the old school ethics, which sadly seem to be fading away now a-days”.
