Nothing runs like a Deere in the forest

During my visit to the APF Forestry Show last year I spotted some stunning kit the like of which most of us who generally work in the construction sector rarely get to see. One piece that really caught my eye was the John Deere 859MH.

Nothing runs like a Deere in the forest
The stunning looking John Deere 859MH is just one example from the company’s M Series range of tracked feller bunchers and harvesters, which according to the American manufacturer were designed and built following feedback from its customers, operators and end users around the world. Talking to another visitor to the plot in the forest at the show, he suggested that the Tigercat equivalent is actually a better machine but he felt that the Deere M Series model was a vast improvement over its earlier counterpart. Powered by John Deere’s own 6090H diesel engine the machine has a power output rating of 224kw (300hp) @1,900rpm and offers a maximum boom reach of 8.84m (29ft 0in) Tractive effort often crucial when working on steep forest slopes is rated at 373kn (83,880 Ibf). Find out more about the M Series range in this promotional video from John Deere.
