On the CASE in India

India is one of the largest backhoe loader markets in the world, with this type of machine accounting for the majority of all construction equipment sales in unit terms.

CASE like many other manufacturers of the venerable backhoe loader, realise the importance of the Indian backhoe loader market and produce more basic models specifically for that region, in 2022 sales of backhoe loaders tipped the 38000 units milestone, of which CASE India holds a 7% market share.

The company has recently launched the new 770 NXe model described as a versatile BHL that offers end users the right balance between power and economy.

The machines look a lot simpler to what we would normally see in the European market, for example, more often than not, there is no extending dipper, no 4-in-1 front bucket and they are usually only two-wheel drive, this helps to keep the cost of purchasing down, and generally meets all the requirements of Indian end users.

There is a lot of demand with construction activities resuming in infrastructure projects such as rural housing, and roads. The backhoes, c/w new attachments are also finding an application in irrigation and watershed developments; and a good monsoon season could potentially herald new investments by farmers in backhoes for use in their farmlands.
