One of a Kind Cat Next Gen Excavator Swedish Style

Today we are in Stromsund, Sweden, once again visiting our friends at Engcon, so I thought it would be appropriate to post up the video which was doing the rounds on social media recently featuring a very special Caterpillar 330 Next Generation excavator.

The machine is owned by Sundbergs Åkeri a Swedish machinery and haulage business. The man in the seat of this special machine is Kristoffer Westman and in the footage he is seen putting the excavator to work constructing a forest road, making use of the greater flexibility and efficiency the combination of the specially constructed front blade and tiltrotator bring. The custom-built excavator blade was fabricated by Nyströms Verkstadsservice in Edsbro.

Being a Swedish company’s machine, it is naturally fitted with a tiltrotator, in this instance an Engcon, with quick hitch, EC-Oil automatic oil connection, and a DC2 proportional control system with MIG2 joysticks that control the tiltrotator, track, and blade.

Caterpillar launched the next generation excavators in the 30-ton class – 330 and 330 GC at the end of 2018. Sundbergs Åkeri took delivery of the Cat 330 Next Gen in early 2019 it was supplied by regional Cat dealer Pon.
