Operating your Cat remotely
Remote control kit is still in a minority out in the field, but in a growing number of applications these machines are proving to be a popular option especially in high risk operations where health and safety of operatives is vital.
Finning was approached by steelworks giant Harsco in late 2013 to produce a fully remote control excavator, which according to Finning, had never been done before. After trialling prototypes for a month, the first Cat 316 excavator was delivered to the customer.
The success of the first machine was such, that Harsco quickly ordered a second. This is the footage of the second machine in action at the Finning Leeds branch, before it's painted in the Harsco colours and sent out!

Let’s hope the operator doesn’t lose the remote down the back of the sofa!
