Operating your Cat remotely

Remote control kit is still in a minority out in the field, but in a growing number of applications these machines are proving to be a popular option especially in high risk operations where health and safety of operatives is vital.

Finning was approached by steelworks giant Harsco in late 2013 to produce a fully remote control excavator, which according to Finning, had never been done before. After trialling prototypes for a month, the first Cat 316 excavator was delivered to the customer. The success of the first machine was such, that Harsco quickly ordered a second. This is the footage of the second machine in action at the Finning Leeds branch, before it's painted in the Harsco colours and sent out!
