Poclain Shear Power in Greece

I have had a couple of photos come into me recently from a follower on Instagram whose contact details I have unfortunately lost, but I thought they would be of interest to the many who follow this blog who are still interested in the old French built Poclain machines.

Poclain Shear Power in Greece
It never ceases to amaze me just how many old Poclain’s are still out there earning a crust for their owners not just in France but around the globe, this example as the title suggests, is located in Greece and its owner says it is used every day. The 220 is actually a fair-sized piece of kit tipping the scales at around 45 tonnes and it’s an impressive machine when you get up close to it. This example which would have been built at the Poclain manufacturing facility in Le Plessis Belleville on the outskirts of Paris in the mid to late 1970’s, is today used to run an Italian manufactured Italmek IC 50 shear, its unclear if it is used in a scrap yard or for demolition work. For lovers of the original red and grey machines check out this old grainy footage which was part of a promotional film made by Poclain back in the day.
