Quite Possibly the Largest Gathering of Antique Equipment…. In the World!

One thing that constantly amazes me, is the passion that so many enthusiasts have for restoring and demonstrating old earthmoving equipment, but I’m delighted that they do, so future generations can see the type of kit that helped to build our world today.

Quite Possibly the Largest Gathering of Antique Equipment…. In the World!

One of the largest of these gatherings is the National Pike Steam Show held in Brownsville PA, USA. The event was created by 5 like-minded individuals with an interest in vintage heavy equipment, way back in 1980 and has taken place virtually every year since.

The latest instalment took place earlier this month 13th - 15th August and there was plenty of working old equipment and static displays too.

Matt Stetar, who hails from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is the man behind the Diesel Creek You Tube Channel and he is into the old equipment restoration in a big way, he attended this event with his classic Caterpillar 977K which has no cab and he has produced a great video on the event for us all to enjoy.

I have attended a few classic plant events most noticeably in Sweden and a small gathering at the Maxpo event in Finland, but I am still yet to attend any British ones, which for one reason or another, continue to evade me, but hopefully that will be sorted in due course.

But one would have to say, this American show looks to be the best of its kind anywhere in the world, so it would be a wonderful experience to attend this at some point in the future!

Anyway, sit back and enjoy Matt’s video.
