Rare Unex excavators captured on camera

Some years ago Digger Man Blog reader Mervyn Rowe sent in these two shots to of some rather ugly looking Unex excavators at work.

These Unex machines are actually of Czech Republic origin and from 1953-1969 were sold under the Skoda banner. From 1970 all machines were branded as Unex. This DH641 42 ton model was introduced around 1992. The machine above is actually a DH411 and not a 25 as shown, these 28 ton models were introduced in 1979. What makes these machines interesting is that they were never seen working in anger in the UK as far as I know, they would certainly never win any prizes for style that’s for sure!
