Reaching Further with TMK’s Tilt Extension
If there’s one thing I have discovered from my numerous visits to Finland, its that they know a thing or two about trees & timber and how to handle it!
It is estimated that 73% to 75% of Finland's total land area is covered by forest, making it the most heavily forested country in Europe. This covers roughly 22 to 23 million hectares, dominated by spruce, pine, and birch trees.
However, Finnish forests are growing more than they are being cut, with about 150 million trees planted annually, often resulting in four new trees for every one felled, and with over 78 billion trees in Finland, it is said that there are more than 15,000 trees per person in the country!

One Finnish company who are at the forefront of tree management is TMK Machinery, who are manufacturers of world class tree shears and associated forestry attachments, and who are always a pleasure to meet up with at the various trade shows I have attended over the years.
One of these attachments is the new TMK Tilt Extension, which not only offers the operator more forward reach, but also increased flexibility for handling the cut timber.
In the video below, Tony Koponen who is a really nice guy, explains the benefits of this attachment in more detail.
