Reader’s wives take on the Digger Man Blog
Since its inception on the Contract Journal website in 2008, my Digger Blog has gone from strength to strength and it’s often been said that I was something of a trail blazer with the concept back then. Today at Earthmovers it seems to be as popular as ever, in fact a little too popular from some of my readers wives apparently!
It’s clear to see that the majority of people who read the Digger Man Blog are deeply passionate about plant and machinery, but sadly it would appear that some of our readers are not paying their good ladies enough attention and spending a little bit too much time on our Facebook portal, checking out the latest blog links and interacting with fellow machine men and in some instances machine women.
However, it would appear that some wives have had enough of their husband’s obsession with the yellow metal and have set up a rival page to discuss their problems and rejection in favour of the shiny diggers which grace the pages on the Digger Man Blog! On 12th July Michelle Daly, wife of regular reader and contributor Ryan Paddy Daly, set up a page entitled Wives of digger drivers/wives digger blog, in what can only be described as a stroke of genius!
Michelle’s opening post read like this, “Well as my husband Ryan Paddy Daly has joined Digger Man Blog and spends all his time looking at, talking about and loving diggers, I wondered if there are any other wives out there who are in the same position as me!!!!”
Well in just over a week, the newly formed “support group” has gained 10 new members and looks sure to expand once this blog post has been published. I think it’s safe to say that some of our enthusiasm has already started to rub off on the ladies within the new group and as you can see in these two photos Michelle has already been “hands on” with some powerful Caterpillar dozers!
In all seriousness, I think it’s a great piece of initiative from Michelle and her fellow ladies and a good laugh too! I for one will be watching this page with interest from now on and I think it would be great if a few more of our long suffering wives or partners joined the group to try and understand our passion for all things hydraulic and powerful!
There are many other imitation blogs out there, but there is only one Digger Man Blog!
