Rotyx, Spinning and Tilting Finnish Style

At the recent Maxpo show which took place at its spiritual home of the Hyvinkää airfield, we were treated to our second look at the Finnish designed and manufactured Rotyx ramless tiltrotators.

Rotyx, Spinning and Tilting Finnish Style

Rotyx is a relatively new brand in the tiltrotator market, which as we know is strongly dominated by the big three Swedish brands, but we are seeing more and more company’s developing their own versions now, which can only be a good thing for the wider marketplace, giving end users more choice in the sector.

Rotyx who are based in Sulkava, Finland, was founded in 2015, and has a good family business feel to it. Following a number of years of development and field testing the company received a design patent for the products in December 2021.

A company spokesman at the show said that the patented Rotyx tiltrotator design enables faster, easier and more efficient excavator operations across a wide variety of job sites and applications.

One of the key selling points is that there are a lot less easily damaged and vulnerable parts on the Rotyx design, meaning less chance of costly accidental breakdowns, especially without the rams sticking out on either side. Continuous rotation is of course expected but 50o tilt available each way makes these units very appealing.

One contractor from a neighboring village Aleksi Ryynänen of family business A&K Ryynänen has been using a Rotyx unit for some two years, it was the first unit delivered to a real customer, and with his experience of using many different brands of tiltrotators over the years, he was able to give good feedback on the attachment in general.

Talking about the Rotyx unit Ryynänen said, “The unit has worked better than expected. I admit that I was a little sceptical about the new type of tilting device at the beginning. However, it has proven to be fast and strong in use. The advantage of the unit as a whole is the slimmer build structure compared to traditional tiltrotators, with the tilting cylinders, the compactness of the package gets praise from me”.

Two units are currently available from Rotyx, the TR-S suitable for excavators from 9-13-tonnes and the TR-M suitable for excavators from 13-18-tonnes, more models are expected to be launched in due course.

The design and product development of Rotyx products is done in Sulkava, but the assembly of the equipment takes place at the Lännen Tractors factory in Loimaa. Rotyx's men, Simo Huuskonen (left) and Asko Toropainen.
