Self-Made Grade Box Fits the Bill for SL Excavations

Back in October last year, we brought you a feature on SL Excavations Inc who are based in Ontario, Canada. The company is owned by forward thinking entrepreneur Steve LaFontaine, who has invested heavily in new Liebherr excavators fitted with Rototilt tiltrotators.

Steve is clearly always looking at ways to make himself and his business ahead of the game, and more efficient at what they do. Keen readers may recall that Steve was waiting for his new all black liveried R 926 to arrive, so Liebherr Canada offered him an R 924 Generation 8 model to use until his arrived, but he was so impressed with that machine, he decided to keep that one and expand the fleet.

Steve has been using his traditional grading beam attachment on the machines, but was inspired by some footage he had seen featuring a grade box style attachment from renowned Swedish bucket manufacturer EMA.

With this in mind Steve took the decision to have a go at fabricating one for himself and after a lot of hard work and many hours put into the project, this past week he has put it to work and posted about it on his social media platforms, including Instagram which is where I came across it.
