Skillful Finn Showcases the Benefits of Engcon Equipped Liebherr
Came across this video on You Tube, of which two of my Finnish friends were involved, one in the filming and editing and one as the featured operator and his machine.
The footage which was produced for Engcon Group, was shot by well-known Finnish videographer and photographer Juhani Viitanen, a great guy who I have known for quite a while now, and who it’s always a pleasure to catch up with during my visits to Finland.
Starring in the footage is highly skilled machine operator Risto Kantola, who drives a Liebherr 936 Compact excavator, fitted with an Engcon EC233 with EC-Oil quick change system, for Vantaa based contractor VM Suomalainen Oy, whose machines are more often than not painted in their distinctive blue livery.

Regular followers of this blog and readers of Earthmovers Magazine, may recall that Risto won the snow sculpture competition that we attended in Juupajoki, Finland, back in 2024, taking the victory with his incredible “Juupajoki Wolf” creation.

Our most recent meet up with Risto was at the Maxpo Show in Hyvinkää last year, and it’s always good to catch up and talk diggers, with another guy who is as passionate about the machines as I am.
The Liebherr 936 Compact featured in this video is yet another new one for Risto, replacing the one he had at the snow sculpture competition, and he puts the machine though its paces showcasing the versatility of the Engcon tiltrotator with gripper, a combination that helps to reduce the need for ground crews, making everything a lot safer and smoother running on sites.
Enjoy the footage below, which we thank Juhani for producing.
