So Why Did the Old D9 Cross the Road?

Over the weekend I came across the Mr Hewes You Tube channel for the first time, the channel has an impressive 184k subscribers and is primarily focused on collecting and restoring old military tanks and associated vehicles.

However, what raised my interest was the fact that the guy behind the channel Joe Hewes has recently invested in a tidy looking vintage Cat D9G bulldozer, which is the focus of the video below.

The iconic dozer was delivered to his property and then had to be moved across a main road and eventually up into his yard area, but not before his girlfriend and other pals had got in the seat for a bit of a play in the giant Tonka toy!

The idea behind it is to restore the machine over the coming months, after which they will use it for various recovery jobs and for creating off road assault courses for their collection of tanks at shows around the country.

There will probably also be some incentive to show the D9 at various vintage machinery events too. I’m sure many of the old muckshifting boys on the internet will know the previous history of this dozer, and I would love to hear from you in the comments section on our social media channels with any news on it.
