Something Completely Different

One thing I like about visiting the big shows is that you quite often stumble across something that you might have never seen before or a more obscure brand, and while at Conexpo-Con/Agg I came across something else I had never encountered before.

Something Completely Different

On my last day at the show, I wandered across to the Diamond Lot, which is yet another zone of this drawn out showground area, having stopped by our friends at AVANT, (more on that later) I stumbled across the booth of Canadian business BRON, who are manufacturers of bespoke cable ploughs.

BRON has actually been in the business of designing, manufacturing and servicing heavy ploughing and ripping equipment attachments since 1974, but it’s the first time I had come across them.

On the stand they were displaying two models one of which was the BRON 250 utility tractor, equipped with the BRON V250 vibratory plough. This set up is designed for gas and utility pipeline installations, and features a 16,000lb reel carrier. The machine has a long track frame and a low profile look enabling it to work on the toughest of terrains and hillsides.

Tipping the scales with an operating weight of 63,000lbs (28,756kg) the machine is powered by a 335 HP (246 kW) diesel engine and can plough to a maximum depth of 72” (1,828mm).

It certainly looked like a beast of a machine, and definitely not something you see every day.
