Stunning Liebherr Dredging Video

My friend and Construction Collective colleague Mark Anthony recently reached the incredible milestone of presenting 200 non stop daily editions of his increasingly popular live stream “Break Fast” shows which air every weekday morning at 10am, during last Friday’s edition Mark shared this incredible video of a Liebherr dredging excavator, which I would also like to share with you on my platform.

As this footage was shot in the Black Sea just off the coast of the Turkish port of Samsun, and features a Turkish dredging company the spoken word is as one might expect is in Turkish, with English subtitles, but don’t let that put you off, as the cinematic footage is quite simply fantastic, and offers an amazing insight into what takes place during such operations.

For this application the contractor uses an older model Liebherr R 954 which is a 50-tonne class pontoon mounted machine fitted with a 4m³ bucket. The machine loads a barge which has an opening hold for discharging the material out in deeper sea locations. The company say they are can shift somewhere in the region of 500 to 750m³ of silt per day.
