There’s No Business, Like Snow Business

As the UK recovers from a slight dusting of snow and the usual chaos that ensues, in Finland, its just business as usual as they roll out the kit to deal with the white stuff in the time honoured way!

I came across this video from You Tube on the Lännen Tractors Facebook page and figured it would be a good fit here on the Digger Man Blog this week with snow being very topical at the moment, strangely enough its our second snow related post this week, following on from Wednesday’s post on the work being done in the Antarctic by the Australian Antarctic Division.

This video focuses on a Tokvam snow blower, the largest in their range of tractor mounted units the F280H “Monster”. Tokvam is a Norwegian based family-owned company who have been building snow and ice related maintenance products since 1958, so its fair to say they know a thing or two about it.  

The Monster, which is described as a two-stage snow blower, has an operating weight of 1740kgs and a working width of 280cm and features a throwing chamber of 95cm. The unit is ideal for opening up roads and loading trucks as seen in the video. The throwing horn can be rotated through 235^o and can cast snow as far as 40 metres if required. These machines are supplied in Finland by dealer Konevel Oy.
