Tiltrotator feast in the woods

Visitors to last month’s APF 2014 forestry & logging show, held at the Ragley Estate in Warwickshire, were treated to a real feast of the latest kit available to the forestry industry. For those of us with a keen interest in tiltrotators there was plenty around to whet the appetite, including the long awaited arrival of the leading Swedish brand Indexator to the UK market.

The exclusive dealer for Indexator Rototilt systems in the UK is a new company Rototilt UK, which has been set up as a joint venture by two well-known individuals on the UK tiltrotator scene, Tom Lomax of Exc@v8 and Tim Wood whose business Tiltrotator UK was until recently a dealer for Engcon, a strong competitor of Indexator. Rototilt UK chose the APF show to display a wide selection of the distinctive red tiltrotators that look set to take the UK market by storm as more and more end users get the message about the benefits of these systems. As well as static units on display, two machines fitted with Indexator Rototilts were also on the plot. A Menzi Muck M545 which is the largest model from the company M series range which was launched at Bauma in 2013. Exc@v8 are the main dealers for Menzi Muck in the UK. Photo courtesy of Indexator. Also on display was Paul Gowan’s specially modified Volvo ECR58 mini excavator, which features a whole host of modifications and attachment which have been completed and installed by Exc@v8. These modifications include, 550mm LGP tracks, Indexator Rototilt RB20B with integrated grab, 250mm Intermercato Tigercut treeshear, agricultural trailer hitch integrated into the blade, pallet forks, land rake and full set of buckets. Paul’s flail head, post knocker, breaker and screening bucket have all been modified to suit the Rototilt system. Menzi Muck owner operator Sean Hughes also had his A91 model on display, demonstrating his Tiger shear attachment which was also supplied and installed by Exc@v8. Tom Lomax and his team clearly deal with some of the finest and most specialised kit available and it will be interesting to see the rise of the red Indexator units in the UK over the coming years.  Look out for more from the APF Show over the coming days here on the Digger Man Blog.
