Yellow all the way for ECL Civil Engineering

In this blog I am going to post a few more photos from my very enjoyable visit to see Bedfordshire based ECL Civil Engineering who also appeared in the October edition of Earthmovers Magazine.

As mentioned in my article the ECL plant fleet is largely dominated by machines from the JCB stable. It’s a brand that co-director Sean Hoare grew up with and he ran his own 3CX machine in the early days of his business, Sean has always been very happy with his fleet of JCB’s and even more impressed with the level of service he receives from his local dealership Watling JCB. However in recent times another yellow brand has started to appear on the fleet. When considering what make to opt for the colour of the machines was very important as the company were keen to maintain the same corporate colour scheme, this was another factor in them opting for the Komatsu machines and plus the fact that they too are built here in the UK. The undisputed star of the fleet at the moment is the Komatsu PC360LC-10. On the day of my visit the 36 tonne class machine which has been given the nickname of “The Beast” was busy working on a drainage line and was certainly making light work of things. It’s fair to say that the company’s all round favourite machine is the JCB JS220LCand there is a good number of these very versatile machines at work on the fleet. Every operator I spoke to on these machines on the day had nothing but praise for them which was very good to hear I must say. I understand that ECL have recently taken delivery of more new JCB excavators, I suspect I will be paying them another visit in the coming years.
