Young Outlook for Outdoor Services

Based in Monticello, Minnesota, G&M Outdoor Services is the brainchild of brother and sister duo Garrett Williams and Marlena Spiegeler, and we recently got in touch with them via Instagram, to find out more about the business.

Garrett (21) and Marlena (24) founded G&M Outdoor Services back in June 2017, virtually from scratch with absolutely nothing but a good work ethic and a drive and passion to build a company that offers the best customer service, quality of work and a great company culture.

Today the company runs over 35 items of equipment including track loaders, skid steers, excavators and trucks, and offers work to around 25 employees on average all year round.

The company has a refreshingly youthful look and feel to it, and like any forward-thinking business these days, embraces social media to showcase their work and what they are capable of delivering on a daily basis, especially on Instagram and via Garrett’s You Tube channel.

G&M are based very close to the main Bobcat dealer in Central Minnesota, Theco Inc, and as such they have decided to predominantly run all Bobcat equipment.

Back in November 2020 the team demoed a 14-tonne class Bobcat E145 and were so impressed they invested in one. Talking about the machine Garrett said, “This machine has taken our boulder wall building capabilities to the next level, ever since we added it to the fleet. In addition, the zero-tailswing on this machine enables us to work in even tighter areas, than we could have done previously, its proven to be a brilliant machine.

We find it to be a great all-rounder, a very comfortable cab, loads of power and a great reach. At the business end we have specified a CMP Attachments Hydro Grapple, which is ideal for our boulder wall building operations, but the machine is equally at home, with a bucket on digging foundations in tight areas”.

A lot of their work see’s them working in close proximity to one of the lakes in the Minnesota area, of which incredibly there are around 10,000 of them in the region.

Another recent addition which is not from the Bobcat stable directly, is the Doosan DX62 which they have had fitted with an Engcon tiltrotator, this machine has proven to be invaluable on smaller boulder wall projects.

In the harsh winter months when hard landscaping work slows up, the team take on snow clearing duties, helping to keep roads and sidewalks open in the local area. They have a wide range of equipment for doing this work including this Bobcat T450 C/W Virnig Attachments V50 snow blower.
