Attachment bonanza in Bauma

These day’s excavators have the ability to become the “Swiss Army knife” of any plant fleet with the array of work tools available appearing to grow day by day. The possibilities are endless, enabling the end users to fully utilise their machines on site every minute of the day. One of my first ports of call was the FRD Furukawa Rock Drill Europe stand, as I was on the lookout for Richard Yarwood & Nicola Kirkby from the UK suppliers of FRD products ECY Haulmark, sadly I didn’t find Richard & Nicola, but I did snap some shots of a couple of products that we recently covered here on the blog. Hydraulic breakers are nothing new of course, but are still an essential tool on the job site. On the stand FRD presented an impressive line up from its large breaker range, with eight models on display ranging from the F12XP which has an operating weight of 840 kg, up to the top of the range F100XP which has an operating weight of 6,500kg. 082 Also displayed on stand amongst a myriad of attachments, was the XR30 Xcentric ripper attachment that we covered here on the blog back in March. A clever piece of equipment that could revolutionise the way we deal with rock. 083 Over at the Arden Equipment stand I saw examples of the increasingly popular rotating selector grabs on display. These multi-purpose grabs are fantastic pieces of kit, for demolition, recycling, material sorting and loading. Some of the company’s models on display included the S2002 which is suitable for excavators in the 25-32 ton class, the S1402 for 18-21 ton excavators and the small S0303 which is suitable for mini excavators in the 3-5 ton class. 085 Crusher and screening buckets are a hot topic at the moment, as savvy company’s look to cut costs further in a competitive market, reducing waste and utilising materials by recycling them into a useable product. Italian manufacturer MB Crushers put on an excellent display featuring two excavators, of which one was fitted with one of the company’s crusher buckets whilst the other machine was fitted with a rotary screening bucket. The demonstration operators put on a perfect show of how an unusable product can be turned into a valuable commodity 177 Finally in this post a look at the REMU screening buckets. Finnish company REMU have been developing screening systems since the 1980’s. With over 20 years’ experience in the business, it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about it. On the demonstration plot at Bauma the company displayed the EP3150 screening bucket, attached to a Hitachi Zaxis 135US excavator. The EP3150 has a bucket capacity of 1.1 cubic metres. 3 rotators in the bottom of the bucket give a screening area of 1.1 square metres. Screening sizes range from 0-8mm to 0-41mm. REMU screening buckets are sold in the UK by Cheshire based Worsley Plant. 014 I think it’s clear to see that the future for attachment utilization is massive. Anything that makes a machine more versatile on site has to be good from everyone’s perspective, the owner see’s improvement in speed of work and significant savings from his investment, and the operators interest is maintained with the variety of work he is capable of performing with the work tools, in my book that makes everyone a winner. Lookout for more attachment's at next months Plantworx show its going to be a great show!
