Digging deep into construction machinery news

Back on the job with MJL Group

I was initially deployed onto a Doosan DX225LC which is normally operated by long term South West plant operator Alan Maunder, who has something of a reputation for a high level of machine cleanliness. So the pressure was on to keep the machine clean and tidy as possible while still cracking on with the job in hand. At first I was put to work loading wagons with topsoil, but was later transferred onto the footing dig, after some 3 months off the digger work it was just like being back home again and I was pleased to find that I had not lost it completely! Later in the week I was put on another Doosan, this time one of the latest DX140LC Series III models. This machine only had 934 hours on the meter but was pretty disgusting inside! As I was going to be on this machine for the last couple of days, I did my best to clean up the interior with the limited resources I had with me, i.e. a brush and some rag! Whilst on this machine I was engaged in the usual site chore of serving the bricklayers using a handy set of pallet forks, some reduce dig work, concrete mixing and placement and craning in kerbs using a Probst kerb lifter. Of course MJL Group has become well known for their large fleet of Doosan excavators and on this site alone there were 4 of them working. On different section of the housing development another Doosan DX140LC Series III was busy concreting footings during the dinner break slot. All in all it was great to get back in the seat and time permitting I will be looking to do a bit more relief operating work in the future, it’s always a good idea to keep your hand in as none of us know what the future holds for us job wise!
