Bridgebank Group has taken delivery of two new Hitachi excavators featuring bespoke livery to raise awareness and funds for The Christie Charity.

The East Midlands-based civil engineering, road construction and groundworks contractor, which also operates a dedicated plant hire division, has worked with Hitachi Construction Machinery UK for more than 20 years. Its fleet now includes 58 Hitachi machines, with a further 14 on order. The latest additions are a ZX350LC-7 and a ZX225US-7, both carrying special branding promoting The Christie Charity.

The initiative follows Chairman Tom Ryan's cancer diagnosis in October 2023 and the treatment he has received at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester. Inspired by the care and support he received, Bridgebank has pledged £40,000 to The Christie Charity during 2026. QR codes displayed on company sites are also encouraging additional donations from employees and visitors.

Harvey Ryan, Business Solutions Manager at Bridgebank Group, said:

"Following my dad's diagnosis in 2023, he has been receiving care from The Christie Hospital, which is very close to our hearts, and we have seen firsthand the level of care and support they offer. We are always looking for ways to give back, not only through turning heads and raising awareness, but also through our own donations. At the end of the day, if we can do a good job on site and support good causes at the same time, that's what it's all about."

Tom Ryan, Chairman of Bridgebank Group, added:

"Being treated at The Christie has shown me firsthand just how remarkable their work is. The level of care and dedication shown by their team is extraordinary, and it has inspired me to do whatever I can to support the charity that helps make that possible. Hitachi have been an incredible partner not just in bringing this idea to life, but throughout our 20-year relationship, their support has played a crucial role in helping us continue to develop as a business. Wrapping our fleet in The Christie Charity branding felt like a perfect way to combine the tools of our business with a cause that is deeply personal to the Bridgebank family. I hope it encourages others to donate and support the vital work of The Christie Charity."

Callum Ryan, Site Manager at Bridgebank Ltd, said:

"Having Hitachi machines on site makes such a difference, the reliability and performance we get from them day in, day out really makes our job easier. To see these machines now proudly displaying The Christie Charity branding makes me incredibly proud. The Christie NHS Foundation Trust has provided outstanding care and support for my dad throughout his treatment, and that means the world to our family. Being able to use the tools of our trade to raise awareness and funds for such an incredible cause is something I am truly grateful for."
