British Classic up for Grabs in Sweden
As we have reported many times before, the Hymac was extremely popular in Sweden during their hayday back in the late 60’s and 70’s, so much so that there are still quite a few still lingering around as ‘farm/hobby’ machines in the Scandinavian region.

This latest one to appear in an auction has clearly had a lot of TLC over the years and additional Scandinavian touches added to her.
Dated as a 1969 model this 12-tonne class 580BT features the popular 6-cylinder Ford diesel engine and would be sold with a number of buckets, work tools and even the instruction and spare parts manual! Around 1300 Hymac 580BT’s were produced in Rhymney during a production period running from 1968 to 1970.

I like some of the touches that have been added to this machine, in particular that the standard long levers that used to come out of the floor, have been replaced with hydraulic joysticks in the modern -day location by the seat armrests.

Also, some great armour plating around the travel motors is a very useful addition, as are the track guards, as those of us of a certain age will recall, these things would throw a track for sport!

This is a fine example of the model lets hope it gets snapped up by an enthusiast who will continue to look after her the way she has been looked after previously, it’s a real credit to the current owner.
