Caldwell Construction Limited assets to be sold following administration

BPI Asset Advisory is managing a series of online auctions featuring construction machinery, commercial vehicles, and associated equipment from Caldwell Construction Limited, a leading groundworks and civil engineering contractor based in Stoke-on-Trent and Warrington. The sales are being managed on behalf of the administrators, PKF Littlejohn Advisory, and major finance companies.

Caldwell Construction, which employed over 400 staff and subcontractors and delivered revenue of approximately ?58 million to March 2025, has entered administration following cashflow pressures. The company provided groundworks services to national housebuilders across the Midlands and North West, and recent sector-wide challenges, including rising costs and project delays, intensified operational strain.

Paul Smith, Partner at PKF Littlejohn Advisory UK LLP, said: "The construction sector has faced challenging trading conditions over recent years, including increasing costs, delays to schemes and wider market uncertainty. These pressures were exacerbated at Caldwell, placing significant strain on cashflow and operations."

The auctions, running from 23rd–27th March, present an extensive range of assets across multiple categories. These include tracked excavators and articulated dumpers, tandem and trench rollers, commercial panel vans, and office and IT equipment. The sales offer an exceptional opportunity for buyers to acquire high-quality plant, vehicles, and support equipment from a nationally recognised contractor, all subject to vendor approval.

Emily Higginbottom, Machinery & Business Asset Surveyor at BPI Asset Advisory, commented: "Working closely with the administrators and finance partners, we are ensuring a structured and transparent sale process. These auctions represent a rare chance to secure a broad range of construction machinery and commercial vehicles."
