CatŪ Centennial machines reach operational heights at High Heavens

Finning UK & Ireland has delivered the Cat 938 wheel loader with a 10-year operating lease, complete with a comprehensive Master Repair and Maintenance (MR&M) package. The agreement promises to deliver long-term equipment reliability, transparent service delivery and operational efficiency for FCC Environments’ High Heavens Waste Transfer Station.

Performance and sustainability were key to FCC’s investment in the new Cat 938. The High Heavens’ Waste Transfer Station is designed to reduce waste miles by utilising larger vehicles to collect waste deposited by smaller collection vehicles – reducing the number of vehicles transporting waste across the country and reducing CO2 emissions.

To support efficiency on-site the Cat 938 will operate continuously within the transfer station to support material handling within the processing hall. Benefits include auto engine mode, extended service intervals and auto wheel torque to reduce tire wear, support productivity and reduce downtime. Features like Performance Series Buckets (longer floor, open throat) offer higher fill factors, while the Performance Power Mode increases engine speed and hydraulic speed by over 10%.

Included in the lease is a support package designed to maximise uptime and maintain predictable operating costs. This encompasses full repair and maintenance coverage, daily top-up fluids, ground-engaging tools, along with performance data and monitoring. The machine also comes with a Fuel Promise, giving operators at High Heavens a data-backed guarantee on the fuel consumption of the machine.

In addition, Finning will provide machine monitoring through VisionLink® to support the safety and efficiency of all of High Heavens’ operations, including machine utilisation, maintenance performance and fluid monitoring. The insights on machine and engine performance gathered from this data will play a valuable role in helping operators to identify issues early on and maintain optimal reliability.

“High Heavens operates to a best-in-class level, with disciplined adherence to maintenance and reporting requirements, supported by a strong partnership with Finning and a culture of pride and ownership in mobile plant operation. Said William Stone, National Plant Manager, FCC Environment.

“The deployment of this special Cat centenary machine at High Heavens recognises the exceptional standards consistently demonstrated by the site and its people.”

William added: “The heavy machinery required for the job must withstand constant use, wear and tear and services that help increase the lifespan of our machines contribute massively to ensuring our operations remain sustainable. The enhanced service agreement from Finning will further support us in ensuring the long-term health and performance of our equipment, both of which are essential for the waste and recycling sector.”

Jonathan Davies, Industry Manager for Industrial, Waste & Paving at Finning UK & Ireland, explained: “The Cat 938 is a strong example of best-in-class machines, with features and benefits that make it the ideal machine for the waste and recycling sector.

“The machine will operate in well-maintained conditions with strong operational practices, helping ensure long-term efficiency across the site. We’re proud to strengthen our partnership with FCC Environment with this flagship machine.”
