Cornish Crowds Turnout as the Royal Cornwall Show Returns (Part Three)

Jim Prior, Mike Murphy and the team at Plant and Engineering Services (PES) were once again in their regular spot at the show, on what is one of the busiest walkways through the showground. The stand is always busy and is dominated by products from the Volvo compact range, and heavy line equipment on display from SMT GB with local Sales Manager Richard Shelbourne on hand to talk machinery requirements with existing and potential customers.

Electric machines are the buzz word at the moment, (pun intended) and Volvo Construction Equipment have been leading the way in its development for some years now, so it came as no surprise to see the 2.5-tonne ECR25 compact radius mini excavator on display alongside the L25 electric compact wheeled loader.

I recently saw examples of both these machines when I attended the Maxpo Show in Finland, and I’m pretty sure they will be making an appearance on the SMT GB stand at Hillhead this week!

At the heavier end of the scale the new 25-tonne class Volvo EC250EL hydraulic excavator was attracting a lot of attention, this example was heading for the MJL Group where it will be operated by Chris Martin, who’s name was already emblazoned on the side.

Take a tour around the stand in this video.

Devon based Yanmar dealer Machineserve were back once more with MD Phil Davey reporting a lot of interest in their wide-ranging product portfolio, which also includes Gyro-Star screening buckets, NC site dumpers and Ghedini hydraulic attachments, to name a few.

One has to say, the new red livery on the Yanmar machines looks stunning, and the Vio 57 formed part of an impressive display fitted with a log grab, complete with timber, at rest in the NC dumpers skip.

Our friends at Vincent Tractors and Plant, the local Kubota UK dealers were back in their familiar location, but something of a landmark for them in the past was no longer present, the double decker bus, that was always a backdrop for the stand previously has been retired to a new home.

However, there was plenty of shiny new Kubota machines on the stand to checkout, including this 5-tonne class U50-5 mini excavator which was heading to rapidly expanding business Duchy Plant Hire, who effectively burst onto the scene from nowhere in recent years, and are clearly investing a lot of money in machinery and trucks, many examples of which were to be seen around the showground.

Vincent Tractors and Plant are also dealers for Dynapac compaction machinery and had a double drum vibratory roller on the stand which was heading for our good friend Simon Taylor of Penzance based Taylor Build.

Checkout our video tour around the Vincent Tractors and Plant stand.

So that’s it for another year, it really was fantastic to see the show return after the long absence due to Covid, and hopefully we can now look forward to the event returning once more in 2023.

I’d like to say a big thank you to The Royal Cornwall Show’s media manager Heidi Masters for all her help in enabling me to cover the show here on the Digger Man Blog.
