Digger heads north to ScotPlant 2014

For me personally a visit to Scotplant at the Ingliston Showground close to Edinburgh airport is a long trek due to the fact that I live at the other end of the country. But after my experience up there in 2010 I will be more than happy to return this year. The show always seems to have a happy vibe to it, and the Scots I met and talked to were extremely keen to talk about what’s new in the plant and machinery game. In 2010 I was very impressed with the level of interest in my favourite topic tiltrotators. At that year’s show Steelwrist had my Hitachi ZX30 mini excavator on the stand fitted with a Steelwrist X04 model which was attracting a lot of interest from the Scottish plant men, who certainly seem keen to adopt the game changing concept. Volvo Construction Equipment GB had the most dominant machine on display that year, with an example of its EC460CLD high reach demo spec machine taking centre stage, visible from virtually all parts of the showground. Caterpillar were also running an operator challenge event, where visitors using a backhoe loader, were invited to knock golf balls off a block and perched on top of what looked like large track bolts. This is an exciting and engaging way for companies to interact with customers and operators at these events. Scot JCB had one of the biggest stands at the show, displaying a whole host of kit from the range, many emblazoned with the new owners sign writing, ready for delivery straight after the show, including this fine example of a 3CX backhoe loader for Ron Grieve. Takeuchi had a stand bristling with new models including the TB219 which had made its first UK appearance at the Executive Hire Show earlier in the year. Our friends at Engcon always put on a good display and in Scotland it was business as usual with Scottish dealer JCC Engcon put on a show using various attachments to demonstrate the cool piece of kits versatility. Liebherr have a good presence in Scotland and on their stand they displayed a large number of products including this material handler and wheeled loading shovel. Case & New Holland had a large selection from their ranges including this Case CX130B model. With New Holland showing this W190B wheeled loader in waste handler specification featuring long reach loader arms. Finally in this look back down memory lane we see something more unusual in the form of Scottish plant hire outfit AB2000’s Colmar T7000FS rail road excavator displayed on a piece of track. So don’t delay, there is still time to register for this year’s event and I look forward to meeting some of you at ScotPlant 2014.
