Digger's Bauma Highlights (Part Five) KATO

For many of us Bauma 2019 was the first occasion to check out some examples of the KATO heavy line range of hydraulic excavators “in the metal” which UK dealer KATO IMER UK will be bringing to the market very shortly. The 14-tonne class HD514 MR-7 (Mini Radius) model is likely to be one of the most popular sizes here in the UK where this weight class is often the bread and butter machine for civil engineering firms engaged in the housebuilding sector. This machine is powered by a popular Isuzu 4-cylinder diesel engine which offers a rated power output of 76.4kw @2000rpm. Like a majority of the excavators on the KATO stand, this machine was fitted with a hydraulic quick coupler and attachments from Dutch manufacturer Pladdet B.V. Under the skin of this excavator there are plenty of blue-chip Japanese components fitted to make this a serious contender in our fiercely competitive market, I’m looking forward to getting hands on with one in the not too distant future! Tipping the scales at 23,000kgs the HD823 MR-7 is another model in the companies so called Mini Radius range of machines. Similar in styling to the 14 tonner this machine also takes its power from a 4-cylinder Isuzu lump under the bonnet, in this application with a power output rating of 120.5kw. The second largest model in the KATO range is the 30-tonne class HD1430-7 which is powered by a 6-cylinder Mercedes Benz/MTU Stage V emissions compliant diesel engine which offers 182kw @1,950rpm. Compared to the other two models, I felt this machine looked a bit dated in bodywork styling terms but it will be interesting to see how they perform out in the field. Check out this video of the KATO HD514 MR-7 on a demo plot at the factory in Italy I believe. [embed]https://www.facebook.com/katoimer/videos/278038506474121/?t=2[/embed]
