Digger’s weekly social media round up #17

Digger Man Blog reader Brian Marriner from New Zealand, shared a series of photos of old kit that he used to operate back in the day this week including this Caterpillar 627 twin engine motor scraper, a true classic in every sense of the word, check out the thread by clicking on this link. 14718616_1829298213980513_5407729328477062247_n Our very own Mr Graham Black was lucky enough to meet up with Mr Takeuchi earlier this week during a visit to Takeuchi’s Rochdale facility in what is the company’s 20th year of selling mini excavators in the UK. Graham’s post prompted a number of members to post photos of early Priestman Mini Mustang excavators which were in fact badged Takeuchi machines back in the day. Check out the post here and join the discussion. img_1492 Pictured above: Mr Takeuchi with the new TB2150 courtesy of Parkway Plant Sales. Blog reader Jeremy Collard posted a photo of his immaculate 1992 model, Case 580K Construction King backhoe loader, which he has reluctantly put up for sale recently, this prompted a flurry of replies from others who have fond memories of this Case classic and some who thought Jeremy’s evaluation of the machine was too much. Why not take a look and decide for yourself by visiting the post here. 14713556_10157780390740121_3606793436006623952_n Brian J Gilbert a regular poster on the blog was so impressed with the tracked 360 degree dumper that they had on hire he posted a phot of it on the Facebook page. The machine which was on hire from Mervyn Lambert Plant Hire was capable of hauling an 8 tonne load to its discharge point before rotating the body to tip its load, which means no dangerous reversing in general. Check it out here. 14721677_10154687796959204_1781029437091666863_n For those with an interest in aircraft as well as diggers, Lee Garbutt posted an interesting shot he took while working close by to Stansted airport in Essex. As one of Eddie Corrs Hyundai excavators looks on a giant aircraft from the Kuwaiti Air Force taxied along in front of him. Take a look at this great photo here. 14705626_10210967434491652_5616998142724177406_n Owen McKendrick posed the question “Why do some machines have these bars across the window?” in reference to the cross member bars that used to be common across the inside of the boom side window in excavators, this prompted a series of replies as to why they are fitted, what do you think? Check out the thread here. 14671357_1662674107092182_7625027925264037994_n That's it for this week here on the Digger Man Blog, have a great weekend and we will see you back here next week.
