Digger’s weekly social media round up #9

Last week the news and chat on the plant and machinery social media platforms was all about the bridge strike on the M20 which took place over the busy Bank Holiday period. Our very own admin Gary Down was amongst a number of readers who broke the news on the Digger Man Blog Facebook page. This prompted a fair bit of discussion with many becoming armchair experts in just what happened, who was responsible and what would happen next. Of course we were not all aware of the full story at the time, but it transpired that the machine was being transported by an independent company and was in no way related to the machine owner. Whichever way you look at it, it was an interesting topic of conversation and if you missed it, you can catch up with the gossip by following this link. 14045601_1090285324353190_5622268175706993010_n Another extremely popular post this week was one I shared from the UK Plant Operators community page, featuring another regular from our pages young John Grainger, who’s dad Neil is the brains behind the Always Digging business in Camberley. This post attracted over 120 “likes” and a large selection of comments from readers on just how good this young guy is on the machines. He is definitely one to watch out for in the not too distant future. Catch up with the post and watch the video of John in action here. IMG_0825 Another popular feature on the Facebook page, is that the guys and girls like to post photos of their work either in progress or when finished. One that caught my eye this week was posted by Robert Burgess who had been shaping a small lake/lagoon for Buxted Construction at Shinfield. Sadly for Robert he will not get to finish this project as he is now laid up with a slip disc and doctors have told him to rest for a while, you can check out the rest of the photos by clicking here and leave Rob a cheery message for his recovery in the comments! 14089096_1165884826816901_6358635673686360517_n The old dirty cab, clean cab, debate fired up again this week with a post by Johnny Macgregor setting the tone for the clean cab brigade. This topic is always guaranteed to stir up emotions, with readers and contributors seemingly split into 3 camps, those who couldn’t care less how dirty the cab is, those who would like to keep a clean cab but the type of work they are engaged in doesn’t allow it, and the “Howard Hughes” types, who if they spot a speck of dust are straight out with the can of Pledge! Personally I like to see a clean cab, it does say something about the man or woman in the seat, tidy cab, tidy job is often the mantra, but at the end of the day it’s down to the individual to make that call. Join the debate by clicking on this link. 14212670_1165435286852548_337183300942800589_n DMB Facebook page member Louis Davis posed a question yesterday asking which digger would you choose out of Case, Cat, Kubota, or JCB? Unfortunately Louis didn’t specify what size machine he was enquiring about but nevertheless the blog faithful were quick to offer their opinions on what’s hot and what’s not! If you missed it, why not join the debate here. Check out the post here and get the detail on the exclusive deal.  Book Cover Have a great weekend and we will see you all back on the blog next week!
