Doosan have come of age for K J Services

The family run business is now in its 4th generation having initially been started back in 1968 with one JCB providing a grave digging service. Bill Nash has been a partner in the business from those early days having started in the plant game with Western Plant in Cardiff when he came out of the forces in 1959. The business has expanded rapidly over the years and the plant and services they provide has evolved too. Traditionally the company have been running a lot of machines from the Caterpillar and Volvo stables, but recently on Bill’s recommendation they have started to purchase Doosan equipment from local dealer Mason Bros with whom they have had a trading relationship for over 40 years. The most recent additions to the fleet are two more wheeled loaders consisting of a DL420 and DL550 models. Pictured above: Bill Nash, K J Services (Left) & Jack Mason, Mason Bros (Right)   Talking about this decision to purchase the Korean built machines Bill said, “It’s my opinion that the Doosan product has come of age, it’s now there or there about and you can see that the Korean’s have done their homework to see what is expected from modern machinery today. The ones we are running already like our DX300LC-5 hydraulic excavator and wheeled loaders have been superb and I can honestly say that we have not had one issue with any of them”. K J Services currently run a hire fleet of around 100 machines at any one time with kit ranging from articulated haulers from 25 to 40 tonne, dozers from D6 to D9, excavators from 1.5 tonne to 100 tonne + and a large selection of wheeled loaders to name a few. In addition to the hire side of things K J Services also buy and sell machines for breaking in addition to used components , which are sold either as seen or can be fully reconditioned, these include but are not limited to, engines, transmissions, gearboxes and final drives some of which are exported all over the world. The company are also fortunate to have an excellent team of highly skilled engineers and fabricators many of whom have come up through the ranks over the years having started out as apprentices in their youth, a real credit to the company for investing in local talent. Out in the yard it is one of those inspiring places that plant men could spend hours wandering around looking at the old rusting relics which are acting as donors to keep similar machines going around the world. The weather was unkind during my visit but I would love to go back one day when the sun is out and spend a few hours walking around this historic venue. Earthmovers Digger Man Blog would like to thank the teams at Mason Bros and K J Services for the kind hospitality shown to us during this visit.
