Efficiency in a compact size

The company, Centro De Gestión Y Desarrollo Inmobiliario Del Mediterráneo, located in Elche in Spain, specializes in the development, construction and sale of residential properties in the province of Alicante. It has continued its commitment to enhancing efficiency and innovation on construction sites with the addition of a new Bobcat E17z mini excavator.

According to manager, Manuel Esclápez Román, the decision to acquire this model stems from the need for a versatile, compact and high-performance machine that adapts to the demands of construction projects in urban environments and confined spaces.

The company has a solid track record using Bobcat machinery. Currently, its fleet includes, among other equipment, a Bobcat 553F skid-steer loader, acquired in 2006 and still performing well, in addition to a recently acquired Bobcat S530EV compact loader. “The new E17z is the first Bobcat mini excavator we've owned, after years of renting for specific excavation jobs. We decided to buy it because of its compact size and versatility in confined spaces, low fuel consumption and ease of maintenance, along with the attractive Bobcat 0% financing for 36 months,” says Manuel Esclápez. The Bobcat E17z R2 mini excavator has been equipped with a set of buckets for excavation and levelling.

“We were looking for a compact machine, easy to transport and capable of delivering high performance in limited spaces. The Bobcat E17z R2 mini excavator perfectly meets these requirements,” emphasizes Manuel Esclápez. “Furthermore, it can handle demanding jobs with ease despite its compact size.”

“Currently, the mini excavator is working on a residential housing project in Finestrat (Alicante), alongside Bobcat compact loaders, carrying out excavation, levelling and earthmoving work, thanks also to the Bobcat 25 dumper attachment installed on our Bobcat S530EV.”

One of the distinguishing features of the E17z model is its Zero Cab Swing (ZHS) design, a solution that allows for completely safe work in confined spaces without the risk of collision with nearby obstacles. It also improves upon traditional swing functionality by keeping the corners of the upper structure within the turning radius, eliminating the exposure of key components during parallel excavation.

Thanks to its compact size, the machine easily adapts to work in urban and residential environments where manoeuvrability and precision are crucial.

The mini excavator offers a balanced combination of cycle speed and smooth control, resulting in high on-site productivity. It stands out for its excellent breakout forces, the incorporation of damping in the boom and stick cylinders that significantly improve handling smoothness, as well as a higher dump height that facilitates truck loading and a long reach at ground level that reduces the need for continuous machine repositioning.

Additionally, optimized stability and remarkable lifting capacity allow for safe and efficient operation. The E17z provide efficiency even in demanding conditions, maintaining precise control at all times thanks to its low-effort controls.

The E17z is designed for comfort throughout the workday, incorporating intuitive controls with ergonomic joysticks and well-positioned controls that facilitate operation for both the operator and the user. Smooth-travel pedals contribute to a more fluid operation. The automatic idle system optimizes fuel consumption while reducing noise and vibration, and the inclusion of a DAB Bluetooth radio adds extra comfort in the cab.

Another key factor in the selection was ease of transport. The machine has been designed with optimized lifting points, integrated hitch points and an automatic swing brake that simplifies its movement between worksites—a particularly relevant aspect for companies operating in multiple locations. The company also highlights the importance of the aftersales service received from Maquinaria Marcos Marín, S.A., the Authorised Bobcat Dealer that has supported the company for over two decades.

“The excellent service we offer is key for us,” emphasizes the manager of Maquinaria Marcos Marín, highlighting the continuity of their working relationship in the maintenance and technical support of their Bobcat equipment.

With this addition, Centro De Gestión Y Desarrollo Inmobiliario Del Mediterráneo has strengthened its operational capacity and taken another step in its strategy of optimizing resources on construction sites, investing in machinery that combines durability, performance and versatility to respond effectively to any type of construction project.

“The Bobcat E17z excavator is one of the most popular in Spain within the 1.7 tonne segment, standing out primarily for its Zero Tail Swing (ZHS) design. With this type of design, not only the rear but also the front corners remain within the turning circle when the tracks are fully extended, meaning virtually free rotation around the entire circumference. It is the ideal model for work in urban environments or indoor projects such as renovations,” comments Carlos Campos, Compact Equipment District Manager Iberia for Bobcat.

He continues: “This machine features a compact and versatile design. Its retractable undercarriage allows it to operate and manoeuvre through doorways or narrow passageways, and it can extend up to 136 cm to maximize stability during excavation.”

The new R2 Series incorporates, among other improvements, a new load-sensing hydraulic system (SmartFlow) that enhances control and smoothness of operation, as well as contributing to greater fuel efficiency. In Spain, the E17z has established itself as a key model, very well received by companies, especially rental companies, due to its ease of transport and versatility.
